VINYL FLOOR INSTALLATION
Vinyl floor installation is a process that may seem simple at first glance, but it still requires certain expertise and skills. Many factors need to be considered to ensure that the final result is truly worth it.
How does vinyl floor installation proceed?
Vinyl flooring is popular for its durability, strength, and easy maintenance. How is it installed?
Like any type of flooring, vinyl flooring installation requires a prepared surface. It must be level (although some types of vinyl flooring can handle most irregularities). If necessary, it should be leveled and repaired. Vinyl flooring installation cannot be carried out on a substrate that has carpet, PVC flooring, or any other material that could cause it to warp or cause other damage. The subfloor must also be completely dry.
The next phase is the appropriate underlayment – a base layer that contributes to a more stable and better-looking floor. Then, we measure the space and plan the optimal arrangement of individual pieces to ensure the vinyl flooring installation results in minimal waste and achieves the desired functional and aesthetic aspects.
The most challenging and crucial phase is the gradual laying of vinyl pieces one row at a time and cutting them to the required dimensions. This ensures that they fit with the other pieces and into the shape of the room (critical areas include around walls, doors, and other obstacles). We alternate the alignment so that the end joints in successive rows do not line up. We leave a gap along the walls for expansion (about 5–10 mm) in case the vinyl flooring expands due to changes in interior temperature or humidity.
Vinyl flooring installation can be done using adhesive or a so-called click system, where individual pieces snap together (without the need for glue). We also don’t forget about the perimeter trim. Either we glue them (a faster method, which requires straight walls) or screw them in (a slightly more complex solution, especially chosen for uneven walls).
The installation of vinyl flooring concludes with a visual inspection of the floor, focusing on any irregularities or other defects that could lead to premature wear and tear, and potential repairs or replacements in the future. We ensure that your floor is 100% ready for use.
